Jeff Nicholson is an extremely talented photographer specializing in beautiful, creative, fresh images. He has photographed talent in Los Angeles, New York and the Midwest for over 20 years. Joining Jeff is stylist and make-up artist Michele Taylor. Michele styles for many regional photographers and works with publications such as Kansas City Magazine and 435 South Magazine.

BASICS ACTING COURSE
Tuesday, March 23 5:30 pm – 7:30 pmHoffman International is pleased to announce the launch of their Broadcast Division. Hoffman is now a complete full service agency for commercial print, high fashion, runway and broadcast.
The Hoffman International Basics Acting Course is a six week program, instructed by Jennifer Plas, teaching the fundamental practices of on-camera and face-to-face auditioning. Through this course, students will learn about commercial acting, actors etiquette and essential tools for auditions. At the conclusion of the six weeks, students will have the opportunity to perform in front of the Hoffman Staff Panel and showcase their skills for possible placement in Hoffman's Broadcast Division.
TEACHER BIO:
Jennifer Plas, a native of Kansas City, will be instructing the course. Ms. Plas has had a successful career in Kansas City for the past 10 years and has also worked in Los Angeles. Jennifer is a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Under her belt, she has numerous commercials, industrial films, indie films, webisodes and print work. She starred as Beth Nance in the recently released indie sci-fi drama, "The Empty Acre" and the comedic horror short film, "Copy", which was released on the Heartland Horrors compilation DVD. Ms. Plas was also the face of Topeka's own 49 ABC where she promoted ABC's season line-ups, made public appearances and did all on-air endorsements. During her time in LA, she was in association with Disney, E!, VH1, TLC and booked a recurring role on the highly praised comedy webisode, "Motherhoodlum: The Series". Jennifer recently shot the short film, "Now That You're Dead" with SenoReality Pictures in mid March and the comedy, "The Playdate". Also watch for her in her own comedic web series called, "Signs of Aging" starting in the Fall of 2008. Jennifer has trained with Kansas City native, Dee Wallace Stone, LA's comedy troupe "The Groundlings" and Marki Costello, who is infamous for shaping hosting careers.

This comprehensive acting program compliments the Basics Acting Class focusing on continuing education in the areas of Commercial Acting and Introduction to Teleprompter usage. At the conclusion of the 6 week course, (12 hourse class time) students will have the opportunity to interact with industry leaders in the Kansas City area as well as audition for future projects.

Hoffman International’s very own Acting Coach, Jennifer Plas, took home an Emmy award Saturday, October 3rd, 2009!!! Congratulations, Jen!!! We are so proud of you!!
The popular Kansas City-based web series, "Unreal Housewives of Kansas City", took home a Golden Statue from the 33rd Annual Mid-America Emmy Gala in St. Louis, Missouri Saturday night. David Hanklynn Productions, along with partner Metro Productions, won an Emmy in the Advanced Media - Arts & Entertainment Category. Executive Producers Michelle Davidson-Bratcher, Meagan Flynn and Jennifer Plas created a scripted parody about five hot and hilarious housewives in the Midwest. The five stars, who are all professionally trained actresses, are receiving emails from fans across the globe. Filming for the web series began in February 2009 and their website is exploding with more than 10,000 hits per week!

To begin this new, exciting venture, we are hosting a seminar on Saturday, March 27th, 2010 from 10:30am-12pm and the follow-up photo shoot with photographer Jeff Nicholson on Monday, March 29th, 2010 from 12pm-5pm.
President and Owner, Kim Hoffman, and New Faces Director, Laura Beckley, will be conducting this seminar. The information session will cover topics including auditions, bookings, how to fill out vouchers, wardrobe for bookings and auditions, dealing with clients, how to upload photos to our website and the modeling industry in general.

THEATRE IN THE PARK AUDITION WORKSHOP
The Theatre in the Park is gearing up for an exciting Season 2010 featuring Jesus Christ Superstar, Annie, All Shook Up and Cinderella! But, before the warmer temperatures arrive, TTIP is busy planning an Audition Workshop and Cast Auditions in February.
The Theatre in the Park 2010 Audition Workshop is scheduled for Sat., Feb. 6th from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Take the guess work out of auditions and receive helpful training from experts in the field. Participants (ages 7 and up) will receive instruction on how to improve vocal selections, develop cold reading skills and survive a dance audition. Whether it's your first audition or your fiftieth, TTIP's Audition Workshop will help you to brush up on the basics and enhance your skills.
The Audition Workshop will be held at the Tomahawk Recreation Complex, 17501 Midland Drive, Shawnee, KS. Tuition is just $20.00 for Johnson County residents and $22 for non-residents. Advance registration is required and begins on Jan. 26. Register online at jcprd.com or by calling 913-831-3359 (Jan. 26 and after). Attendees do not have to audition for The Theatre in the Park to participate.
